Scent Work: The sport of Scent Work celebrates the wonder of your dog's sense of smell! Based on the work of professional detection dogs, this class is perfect for strengthening your bond with your dog as you work as a team to find the hidden scent articles. We follow the AKC Scent Work guidelines to prepare you and your pup for trials, teaching your dog to sniff out cotton swabs saturated with the essential oils of birch, anise, clove and cypress. This class is open to all breeds and skill levels.
Rally: Show off your dog's obedience skills with style by learning how to navigate a course of 10-20 directed signs. This class is all about working as a team while building on your foundation of obedience skills learned in our STAR Puppy and CGC classes. We cover the basic sit, down, stay, and loose leash walking with distractions, and learn some more complex skills along the way!
Barn Hunt: Test your dog's senses while they have fun tunneling and climbing hay bales in the search for live rats! The rats are hidden in safe aerated tubs and then tucked away in the straw to test the nose, speed, agility, and surefootedness of your dog! Open to all breeds and all skill levels, Barn Hunt is a great way to channel your pup's energy while having fun working as a team!
AKC STAR Puppy: The AKC STAR Puppy class is a six-week class designed to help new dog owners and their puppies get off to a great start! We work on our basic obedience skills, such as sit, down, stay and come, as well as answer all types of behavioral questions to help new owners develop a healthy, positive relationship with their puppy. This class is taught by an AKC Approved CGC Evaluator and your puppy will receive their first AKC title upon completion of this course!
AKC Canine Good Citizen: The next step after our STAR Puppy class, our CGC course builds on the foundation of good manners and obedience with an emphasis on responsible dog ownership. At the end of the course, an AKC Approved Evaluator will conduct a ten-part test so your dog can earn their CGC title!
Dock Diving: If your dog loves to retrieve, beat the heat this summer with our Dock Diving classes in our NADD Sanctioned Pool! Dock Diving is great for giving higher-energy dogs a safe way to burn off some steam, but also to help build confidence in more timid dogs. Available to dogs of all skill levels, we cover everything from swimming lessons and safe pool introductions to helping improve your seasoned Dock Diver's jump distance.
Hydrodash: A new Dock Diving game we are excited to bring to DGS! Perfect for those dogs already familiar with Dock Diving, the Hydrodash is a timed retrieval game where the dog launches off the dog to retrieve a toy at the end of the pool.
Conformation Handling Class: Our Conformation Classes help prepare you and your dog for the conformation ring. We cover proper ring protocols and patterns, as well as teach you to highlight your dog's strengths so you feel confident when you step foot in the ring! This is a drop-in class open to all skill levels.
